PANAJI: BJP on Tuesday said that chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s absence has not impacted the state administration.
Addressing reporters, former Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienker said that the state government is functioning well and that senior ministers including PWD minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar, TCP minister Vijai Sardesai, revenue minister Rohan Khaunte and others are “available and functioning”.

“Parrikar is keeping a 24-hour watch on the state administration from the US,” Kuncalienker said. Parrikar, before leaving for medical treatment on August 30, decided not to hand over charge to any minister and to clear all important files himself.

Reacting to the Congress demand of President’s rule in Goa, Kuncalienker said that it appears that the party has admitted defeat before fighting the battle. “The opposition should try to form the government but they look like they have admitted to defeat,” he said.

BJP also condemned the statement of the opposition Congress that the Zuari bridge has developed a ‘crack’. Kuncalienker said that the party is trying to “create panic in the minds of people” by making such statements.
