Flood-hit residents given relief materials

Ninety nine families from Kalluthankadavu colony were given kitchen utensils and other household items by ‘Snehapoorvam Kozhikode’, an initiative to rehabilitate families and individuals affected by the recent floods and landslips, on Tuesday.

Residents of the colony were one of the worst hit by the floods in the district. Each family was given materials worth ₹10,000. Hilite Residency Apartment Owners Association, Welfare Party, District Sports Council, Casino Juniors, Omassery, 1984 batch of M.B.B.S. and BDS students of Government Medical College, Kozhikode, gave contributions.

Meanwhile, various organisations continued generously contributing to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. On Tuesday, a Kozhikode-based alumni group of Government Brennen College, Thalassery, donated ₹1 lakh. Nostalgia-86, the alumni group of Government High School, Atholy, and the students of Al-Hithra Islamic Pre-school too donated money.
