India’s cluttered television market is soon going to see the entry of German brand Blaupunkt in September ahead of the crucial festival season, according to a company release.

The release said Blaupunkt’s LED televisions for the Indian market will be specifically designed by the Indian brand partner as per the German quality norms. The release did not name the partner.

Andrzej Cebrat, managing director at Blaupunkt, said for years German brands like Blaupunkt are seen oriented with the Indian customer needs and requirements.

“Not only do they offer good value for money but also appreciable after-sales experience. I believe this will be a good initiative for both Blaupunkt and Indian customers,” said Cebrat.

The Indian television market is estimated at around Rs 22,000 crore growing at over 15%. The market has off-late become highly cluttered with over 80 brands with several of the newer brands like Xiaomi and Skyworth selling exclusively through online. Several more brands are waiting to enter in the wings. Online accounts for almost 14% of total television sales.

Blaupunkt’s marketing head Thorsten Genhardt said there is high growth prospects in the next five years following the launch of LED TVs in India.
