Landslide and boulder fall at the head of the Baliyanala has become a cause of concern for the local authorities with about half a dozen families in the area also facing imminent risk if the problem continues unabated. On Monday morning landslide occurred on the mountainside near Raees Hotel with boulders falling down to the Baliyanala. Landslide and boulder falls continued in this area through the day.

It is pertinent to mention here that about ten years ago, there was heavy landslide in the Baliyanala area. This area has been especially susceptible to landslide since then. The route to Krishnapur had to be closed and about two dozen families had to be shifted earlier due to this problem. However, the authorities concerned have not taken necessary action to make alternate arrangements for the families still living in the danger zone.

The Government inter college and surrounding residential area is facing imminent threat due to the continuing landslide at Baliyanala. At about 6:15 PM on Monday, a portion of the mountainside broke off and landed in the Baliyanala. Local social worker KL Arya informed the Sub Divisional Magistrate Abhishek Rohila about this. Considering this, the SDM directed officials concerned to temporarily shift 10 families in the danger zone to the Shahid Major Rajesh Adhikari Government inter college.
