Maharashtra: Three-year-old boy killed by a leopard in Nashik


Nashik: A three-year-old boy was killed by a leopard in Parmori village in Nashik district, around 40 kms from here, the police said today. The incident occurred Monday (September 3) evening when Sarthak Dighe was playing in an agriculture field with his friends, a Vani police station official said.

The big cat suddenly pounced on the boy and started dragging him to a sugarcane field, he said. As other boys raised an alarm, parents of Dighe and other villagers rushed to the spot, following which the feline left the boy midway and fled. Severely injured Dighe was rushed to Dindori rural hospital where doctorsdeclared him dead, the official said. Police have registered a case of accidental death. Similar incidents of attacks by leopards had taken place in the past.
