The State Congress leaders  flayed the Union Cabinet  Min Ashwini Chaubey for his diatribe against the party president Rahul Gandhi. They warned that the Cong activists might take to the roads to air their anger against such frivolous attack on Gandhi.

Addressing the media at the State party office here on Monday, the State party senior vice-president Surya Kant Dhasmana said that BJP leaders, including the Union Mins,  are stooping abysmally low and going for purely personal attack on the Cong president. Chaubey had sparked a fierce row after he had compared the Cong president with a sewer worm (Nali Ka Keeda). “It is shocking that the BJP’s central leadership is maintaining a stony silence on the outrageous remark of one of the Union Ministers. By way of contrast, the Cong top brass took a disciplinary action against the party’s veteran leader Mani Shankar Aiyer when he made a controversial remark on Modi. This despite the fact that his remark was misinterpreted,’’ he said.

The Cong leader further said that the BJP leaders are now turning desperate as a debacle in the 2019 parliamentary polls is staring them in the face.

He also raised the issue of skyrocketing prices of petrol and LPG. “The party would stage protest in all parts of the state from September 7. The stir would be taken to the booth level during which our workers would expose the BJP Govt on Rafale deal and the price rise,’’ he said.

Launching a scathing attack on the CM Trivendra Singh Rawat for his continued absence from the State at a time when most parts of it are facing fury of rain, Dhasmana said that the CM is insensitive to the suffering of the people of the state. “What is unfortunate is that no Cabinet Minister has so far cared to visit the landslide-hit place in Tehri district where 8 persons were killed,” he added.

Cong leader questions State  Govt for holding ‘Investors Summit’

The Cong leader also questioned the State Govt for holding the ‘Investors Summit’ and inviting the industrialists sans no clear-cut policy. “The infrastructure is also in a bad shape,” he said. He said that only 800 hectares of land is available in the State for setting up the industry. Dhasmana, further, said that Dehradun city, the venue of the summit, is in a shambles. “The roads are riddled with potholes, the drains are clogged with debris of the anti encroachment drive strewn around and the traffic snarls are common,” he said.

The Cong leader warned that the investors would not engage in any charity for the State and what they would eye is the return on investment (ROI).
