Two of the three city corporations threw up a fractured verdict on Monday, but the reins of power are likely to go to the Janata Dal (Secular)-Congress combine. While the city corporations of Mysuru and Tumakuru had a fractured verdict, with the BJP emerging as the single largest party, the saffron party won the majority of seats in Shivamogga City Corporation.

The Congress-JD(S)/Bahujan Samaj Party coalition is likely to stake claim in the Mysuru City Corporation after the coalition mopped up 38 of the 65 seats. The Congress won 19 seats while the JD(S) and the BSP won 18 and one seat, respectively. The BJP emerged as the single largest party with 22 seats, while five seats went to Independent candidates.

In Tumakuru’s 35-member city corporation council, the Congress and the JD(S) won 10 seats each while the BJP won 12 seats. The remaining three seats went to Independents.

With victory in 20 of the 35 seats, the BJP will stake claim in Shivamogga City Corporation. The Congress and the JD(S) won seven and two seats, respectively, while the remaining six seats went to Independents.
