All hospitals in district to have ‘doxy corner’

more-in

A ‘doxy corner’ will be set up in all hospitals in the district, from where doxycycline tablets can be had to prevent leptospirosis.

The medicine should be taken after food and if a person is still associated with flood-related cleaning and other works, the prophylactic measure has to be continued for six weeks.

All the hospitals have the medicine, but to make it easily available, it will be distributed from a separate corner. Ranitidine tablets will also be given along with it to prevent an acidic stomach. The tablets were distributed in relief camps too. However, it was not monitored whether it had been taken by people.

About 11 lakh doxycycline tablets have been distributed so far, said S. Sreedevi, Additional DMO.
