LUDHIANA: The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered two
bodies here on Monday from two different railway crossings coming under
GRP Ludhiana’s jurisdiction.
Satwinder Singh, head constable at GRP Ludhiana, said: “Railway cops recovered two bodies — one from a railway crossing near Sahnewal in the morning, and another from Dhandari Kalan railway crossing in the late evening hours. In the first case, police came to know it was a case of rail accident in which the deceased could not see a train coming from the opposite direction. He seemed to be in his sixties, and his body was sent to civil hospital for post-mortem.”
“Another body was recovered from Dhandari Kalan crossing in the evening hours of Monday. The information was reported by a lineman, as he found a body crushed to pieces after coming in contact with a train. The second body also remained
untraceable, but still investigation was on to find the reason behind the second case,” added Satwinder.
GRP station house officer Inderjeet Singh stated: “Despite several initiatives by railway security forces to make people aware about careless deaths, many were losing their lives due to their own errors. This is the second such heartrending incident in the past 15 days. People should follow the instruction of railway security forces.”
