Research scholar Lois Sophia, who was accused of raising 'anti-BJP slogans' on Monday at the Tuticorin airport and was remanded a 15-day judicial custody, has been granted bail on Tuesday. Sophia's parents had reportedly stated that they will move a higher court in case Thoothukudi Court rejects her bail.

On Monday, Sophia and Tamil Nadu BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan got into a quarrel after the girl called the central government as “fascist” when the BJP leader was around. The altercation, which was caught on a camera went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP president, Tamilisai Soundararajan, had on Tuesday clarified her stand in front of the media. She said, "People need to look into Sophia's background. I did not do any wrong. I did not speak in the flight, I only filed a complaint after reaching the airport."

She also alleged that the student was raising slogans mid-air which became a safety concern safety for the co-passengers. She further claimed that the girl's family filed a complaint hours after the incident, while she filed her complaint with the airport authority as soon as she landed.

"If someone enters your house and yells at you, will you stay calm? If a person sitting next to any other politicians on a flight raises a slogan against their party, will they stay quiet?" Tamilisai questioned.
