Many people hesitate to approach courts for settlement of disputes owing to the common notion that it would be time consuming. Such people should understand the fact that they can get legal awareness and justice by approaching courts, High Court Judge John Michael D’Cunha said.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for new court complex at Challakere town on Saturday, he said it was the responsibility of lawyers and other concerned persons to create awareness on how best justice can be sought. “In the absence of proper legal awareness, there are possibilities that people may create a lot of confusion. But they can get justice by approaching courts,” he added.
Speedy justice
The advocates, judges and staff at the courts should make sustained efforts to ensure speedy justice to litigants at minimum cost. Keeping this in view, the government had decided to construct a court complex at a cost of ₹9 crore with basic facilities. “Since money invested in the construction of the complex belongs to the people, the authorities should take utmost care during construction,” he opined.
Other complexes
District Principal and Sessions Judge S.B. Vastramutt said steps have been taken to construct such court complexes at Hosadurga and Holalkere at a cost of ₹1.5 crore and ₹2.25 crore respectively.
