BeMC celebrates 151st Self-Govt Day

The 151st Local Self-Government Day of the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) was celebrated at the Khallikote University stadium on Friday.

Inaugurating the programme, chief guest Finance and Excise Minister Sashi Bhushan Behera said everyone has to make efforts to keep the city clean and green. Bollywood actress Zareen Khan also urged people to keep the city clean and help the municipal corporation achieve the said target.

MP Siddhanta Mahapatra, Gopalpur MLA Dr Pradeep Panigrahi, Brahmapur MLA Dr Ramesh Chandra Chaupatnaik, former Union Minister Chandra Sekhar Sahu, BeMC Mayor K Madhavi, Commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore and Brahmapur Development Authority (BDA) Chairman Subash Moharana also spoke.

On the occasion, foundation stones were laid for many citizen-friendly projects and some new projects were inaugurated. The BeMC single-window system was also implemented. A dance performed by the Prince Dance Group depicted the urgent need to ban the use of plastic.
