R P S Tyagi joins Congress

Former retired IAS R.P. S Tyagi joined the Congress on Saturday evening. Chhattisgarh Congress incharge P L Punia admitted him in Congress party.

Tyagi has been harbouring the desire to enter into politics and had been earlier speaking in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party and rumours were making rounds but he surprised everyone by joining Congress.

Tyagi was State Administrative Service officer and he was awarded IAS in year 2001. Tyagi had resigned from the post of secretary, Chhattisgarh State Administrative Reforms Commission six months before. He had been Dhamtari, Korba and Janjgir-Champa district collector.

He retired from the post of Health Secretary.

It was during period of Collector Korba, he came into limelight. He had under Corporate Social Responsibility fund, he had constructed Trauma Centre at Korba and Engineering College worth crores.

When he was transferred ,he came face to face with the then Home Minister and Korba resident Nankiram Kanwar. Tyagi had order probe in the clandestine Government land deal in Urga area which after probe which included several BJP leaders, filed criminal offence against them.

One among the name was ‘Guru’ of Nankiram Kanwar, late Kashiprasad Pandey. He was then transferred to Janjgir-Champa.

Former bureaucrat is said to be claiming as a candidate from Korba or Kathghora assembly constituency of Korba district.

But Korba has sitting MLA Jaisingh Agrawal, who is two times winner while Kathghora seat is held by BJP MLA and parliamentary secretary Lakhanlal Dewangan.

Both seats are general. But former Union Minister Dr Charandas Mahant is also backing up for Kathghora seat.

Meanwhile, veteran Congress leader and last election candidate Bodhram Kanwar is also making claim for the seat.
