The police have arrested three persons, including a school teacher, under the Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 on the charge of sexually abusing minor girls in two separate incidents.
The Suramangalam All Women Police here picked up a teacher of a private school who allegedly attempted to sexually abuse a Class III girl.
According to police sources, Satish of Ammapet joined the school at Meyyanur as Mathematics teacher only recently. He attempted to sexually abuse the eight-year-old girl a few times last week. As the girl looked dull, the parents made enquiries, following which she revealed the indescent behaviour of Satish. He is also alleged to have attempted to misbehave with a few other girls of the same class, luring them with sweets.
The parents brought the incident to the notice of the school authorities on Thursday. When the parents went to the school again, they were informed that the management had already dismissed the teacher from service.
Meanwhile, when Satish came to collect his certificates from the school on Saturday, the parents of the students questioned his behaviour and assaulted him causing injuries. The Pallapatti police rushed to the spot and took Satish to the Police station. Based on the complaint preferred by the parents, the All Women Police arrested him under the POCSO Act 2012 late Saturday evening.
In another incident, police sources said that the marriage of a 17-year-old girl of Kolathur near Mettur was solemnised with a groom of Mailampadi village in Erode district at the bride’s residence on August 29.
A few hours after the marriage the bride complained about stomach pain and was rushed to the Kolathur primary health centre, where she was found to be pregnant. She was admitted to the government headquarters hospital, Mettur, where she gave birth to a boy the same night.
On receiving information in this connection Kolathur Police made enquiries with the minor girl. Based on the information furnished by her, the police arrested Sinraj (30) and Prabhu (25), both daily wage earners of Karungallur, allegedly sexually abusing the girl, when she accompanied them for farm works.
The Police arrested both of them under the POCSO Act on Saturday and they were remanded in judicial custody by Mettur Court.
