The Child Welfare Committee Sundargarh has written to the CWC New Delhi requesting their support to recover a 12-year-old girl of Rourkela, who was reportedly missing there since January, after being trafficked from here by two brokers.

A Rourkela police team had visited Delhi during March to trace her but had returned empty-handed.

After receiving information from the Delhi Police recently about the location of

the girl, the CWC Sundargarh has initiated action to recover the girl.

The girl, daughter of a widow of Malgodown area of Rourkela, was reportedly trafficked to New Delhi through two brokers, identified as Pami Sahu and Rinku Sahu on January 15.

The brokers allegedly had taken the girl without the knowledge of her mother. After the return of the brokers to Rourkela, they confessed that the girl had gone with them to Delhi and they had engaged her there.

The widow reportedly had requested them to bring back her girl, but they had avoided her on one plea or other.

On February 2, the girl reportedly had telephoned her mother requesting her to arrange to take back her as she had been under virtual house arrest. The widow lodged a complaint At the Uditnagar police station.

The Delhi Police recently informed their Rourkela counterparts that the girl was located and placed in a shelter home at Kamala Nagar.
