Noida: Four persons, including an ayurvedic doctor and a
woman, were
arrested on Saturday for allegedly ‘kidnapping’ a 15-year-old girl and selling her to a few ‘human-trafficking agents’ for Rs 1
lakh. According to police, the girl was recovered from the house of the ‘agents’ in Naya Baans, Sector 15, nearly 10 days after she went missing from her house in Sector 8.
The girl underwent a medical test at the district hospital on Saturday and the reports are awaited, police said.
“The girl had left her home on August 22 to visit the doctor, who allegedly hoodwinked her to stay with him. She remained at his house for a day after which she was sent to the house of the ‘agents’ in Naya Baans,” an officer of Sector 20 police station said.
The doctor who runs a clinic in Sector 8 is a widower with two kids.
Manoj Pant, SHO, Sector 20, told TOI that the doctor
sold the girl to the trafficking agents for Rs 1 lakh. She was sent to the agents’ rented accommodation in Naya Baans, Sector 15.
“She was introduced to a 30-year-old woman who would take her to the malls in Noida and Delhi and buy her clothes,” he said. Police claimed that the “agents” used to click photos of young girls and share them with men or youngsters who would then quote a price for the girls. “They are involved in other such cases of trafficking as well and the woman would prepare the girls for sale to agents,” he said.
While police said that the girl has been “recovered safely” claiming to have busted a gang of agents who indulged in human trafficking, they are yet to share any criminal history of the ‘agents.’
The accused have been identified as Santosh (doctor), Hakim alias Mama and Saurabh, all residents of Naya Baans and the woman. An FIR has been lodged against the four accused under sections 363 (kidnap), Section 17 of POCSO Act and 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act, 1956.
