India captain Virat Kohli has been rested from the 2018 Asia Cup, starting September 15 in the United Arab Emirates. Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team in the absence of Kohli at the celebrated ODI event, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday.

Under the captaincy of Kohli, India are currently playing England in a long five-match Test series, following a 2-1 victory in three-T20I series and 1-2 loss in the three-match ODI rubber.
