The Telangana Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (TT JAC) has demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao announce abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), which is detrimental to the employees, during the Pragathi Nivedhana meeting in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Opposing the continuation of the CPS, the TT JAC leaders staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate in Karimnagar town on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said that the government should provide social security scheme to the employees after their retirement by abolishing the CPS. Stating that the CPS was a State government issue, they called upon all the political parties to include abolition of the CPS in their election manifestos.

When the elected representatives such as MPs, MLAs, MLCs have pension after completion of their term, why are the employees being denied pension after serving for more than 30 years, they asked. They wanted Telangana State to emerge as role model for the country by abolishing the CPS. TTJAC leaders Jali Mahender Reddy, M. Prathap Reddy, Narahari Laxma Reddy, Ch. Prathyunma Kumar, Rajabhanu Chandraprakash, K. Ravi Kumar and others were present.
