The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed concern over dwindling number of students in the Government schools of the State. He expressed surprise over the fact that despite the Government schools having most qualified staff members, the enrolment in these schools is far from satisfactory.

The CM was speaking at a function organised on the occasion of the retirement of the principal of Saheed Narpal Singh Government High School, Danda Lakhaund, Dehradun, Virendra Singh Krishali on Friday. Krishali is the district president of Prathmik Shikshak Sangh (PSS), the powerful association of the primary teachers.

“The Government schools have highly qualified staffers, yet the number of the students is on the wane. We must discuss threadbare why things are so.

The teachers survive professionally on the students. We have to focus on quality education and all-round growth of the students studying in our Government schools,’’ Rawat said.

The CM reiterated his Government’s commitment to improve the quality of education in the Government schools and devise ways to better the education system of the State. He said that the State Government has made textbooks of National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) compulsory for all the schools in the State.

Rawat, further, said that everyone should work together and contemplate on ways to improve the conditions of the Government schools.

Krishali expressed his gratitude to the CM for attending the small function organised on the occasion of his superannuation.

The village pradhan of Danda Lakhaund and members of the staff aside from a large number of students and their parents were present on the occasion.
