Rafale deal a global scam, tweets Rahul

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday once again hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal. He has taken to the Twitter to launch a fresh attack. Citing a media report Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "Globalised corruption. This #Rafale aircraft really does fly far and fast! It's also going to drop some big bunker buster bombs in the next couple of weeks".

The tweet also referred to a media report claiming that Anil Ambani's Reliance Entertainment had signed a deal to produce a film with actor Julie Gayet, then French President Francois Hollande's partner, just two days before the MoU for Rafale aircraft was signed. "Modi Ji please tell Anil, there is a big problem in France," Gandhi's tweet added.

On Thursday at a press conference, Rahul had read excerpts from the joint statement by Modi and Hollande that had been issued in Paris in April 2016 and straight up accused the Prime Minister of lying.

Reiterating its demand to set up a Joint Parliamentary Committee, Congress leader Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the nation now knows why the Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn't need a prior Cabinet Committee of Security to ratify his unilateral deal to buy 36 Rafale aircrafts in Paris, because a Film Agreement was already being signed behind the sets of the 'Magnum Opus' called Rafale Scam. "It basically sealed the Rs 30,000 Offset Contract Deal & Rs 1,00,000 Cr 'Life Cycle Contract' Deal between the Reliance Defence and Rafale's Dassault Aviation.," he said.

Earlier, Rahul had alleged that the two leaders agreed that the aircraft and associated systems and weapons would be delivered on the same configuration as had been tested and approved by Indian Air Force. "It is clearly written here that the configuration is going to be the same. So, the man is lying," Rahul stated on Thursday.
