LUDHIANA: During a camp for milk testing in Ishar Nagar area of the city, of the total 33 samples checked, up to 30% of water was found in 14 samples. Dilbagh Singh Hans, deputy director dairy (Ludhiana) said they did not find adulteration of chemicals in any of these samples.
“Under Mission Tandrust Punjab being started by the Punjab government, awareness camps are being organized in different parts of the district where free milk testing is being done with the help of a mobile milk testing van. One such camp was organized in Ward 35 of the city, in which deputy mayor Sarabjit Kaur was the chief guest,” said the statement by District Public Relations Office.
Dilbagh Singh Hans said in a bid to provide good quality milk to consumers of the district, a target of organizing 55 camps has been fixed. He added that between June 5 and August 31, a total of 27 camps were organized in different wards of the city. He further informed that the Punjab government had provided eight mobile laboratory vans to the Punjab Dairy Development Board, which organizes free checking camps in different parts of the state to check adulteration of milk. These vans also educate the masses.
He informed that during these camps, checking of fat, SNF, protein, density, water, urea, caustic soda,
sugar, and salt in milk is done free of cost. The masses are also educated about the benefits of milk during these camps. After a report of the samples comes, consumers are duly informed whether the milk they consume is good or bad.
