147 roads remain blocked in State due to rain, landslide

About 147 roads have remained blocked to traffic in various parts of the State. Observers point out that with the road network in such a bad shape now, the situation may worsen in the coming days considering the heavy rain forecast in parts of the State on September 1, 2 and 3.

According to information provided by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) on Friday evening, a total of 18 rural roads are blocked in Dehradun district. Similarly 12 roads are blocked in Pithoragarh district. In the Uttarkashi district, the Rishikesh-Gangtori national highway number 108 is open upto Gangotri while the Rishikesh-Yamunotri national highway 94 is open up to Janakichatti. In the Tehri district, a total of five motor roads are blocked. In the Chamoli district, the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway number 58 is open for traffic though the Pokhri-Hapla motor road and 29 rural motor roads are blocked in the district. In the Rudrapayag district, the Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway number 107 is blocked near Doliya Devi with efforts underway to clear it. Nine rural roads are also blocked in the district. In the Pauri district, a total of 44 rural roads are blocked to traffic. Five motor roads are blocked in the Haridwar district while three rural roads are blocked in Almora district. While 12 motor roads are blocked in the Bageshwar district, the Lohaghat-Tanakpur national highway and 10 rural motor roads are blocked in Champawat district.
