Over two-thirds of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation’s fleet will be pressed into service for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s Pragati Nivedana Sabha (PNS) on Sunday.

TSRTC officials told The Hindu on Saturday that of the transport juggernaut’s fleet of 10,600 buses, approximately 7,200 will be used for the ruling party’s public meeting. “Since the meeting is on a Sunday, we expect very few issues. Occupancy ratio on Sundays as compared to weekdays is significantly lower. We have taken several factors into consideration and have made plans for smooth operations in the city and across the State,” an official, who did not wish to be identified, said.

Explaining how the PNS would affect bus services, sources said just over 16% buses of the Warangal Region would be operational and confirmed that none would be run from the Warangal Bus Station.

In the city, of the around 3,800 buses in the Greater Hyderabad and IT Zone, officials said that approximately 2,400 were being deployed for the PNS. “Metro Luxury, Metro Deluxe and rear engine buses will be operational. Ordinary buses are being diverted for the PNS. Since Sunday is a holiday for offices in the IT Corridor, a large number of buses will be diverted to important routes such as Miyapur–L.B. Nagar and Koti–Patencheru,” the official said.
