Two get life term for killing man in JSpur

Jagatsinghpur: The District Judge on Wednesday found two persons guilty in murder of one Somanath Das of Marchipada village, four km from here, and awarded them life term of imprisonment. The accused were Susanta Kumar Swain of Dengeswar village and Narayan Mallick of Patenigaon. The duo had financial dispute with Somanath and attacked him. The deceased’s wife Itishree Das had lodged an FIR in the Jagatsinghpur police station stating the incident.

Woman electrocuted in Jagatsinghpur

Jagatsinghpur: A middle-aged woman was electrocuted at Teladia village under the Kissannagar police limits on Thursday after she came in contact with a live wire while pushing an electric plug. The deceased was identified as Saraswati Bhoi. As she got unconscious, she was rushed to the Raghunathpur hospital where she was declared brought dead.

P’khemundi civic body holds Self-Govt Day 

Paralakhemundi: The Paralakhemundi Municipality celebrated the Local Self-Government Day on Friday. On the occasion, an awareness rally was taken out shouting slogans through the town sensitising people to keep the town clean and green. The National Flag was unfurled at the municipality office premises. Municipality Chairman M Lalita, Vice-Chairman Sanjay Aadhikary and Executive Officer Ashok Raut also felicitated five municipality workers for their contributions to keep the town clean.

Utkal Alumina extends help to R’gada DHH 

Rayagada: The Utkal Alumina International Ltd (UAIL) on Friday handed over 2,100 colour coded bed-sheets to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Company vice-president TM Prakash handed over the bed-sheets to CDMO Bimala Sahu. Company President N Nagesh promised to ensure cleanliness and good hygiene for the patients in the hospital. Among others, DGM-CSR Siba Sankar Mahapatra, medical manager Rajinder Mandal, HR and IR manager Brajabidhu Chhatoi, DPHO Sanjukta Sahu, ADMO SP Padhi amd Dr Prusty and all block-level Medical Officers and CDPOs were present on the occasion.

Awareness camp on Wadi project held in Jajpur 

Jajpur Road: The Tata Steel in partnership with the Nabard recently organised an awareness camp on its Wadi project at Phuljhar village of Danagadi block. Tata Steel OHS Head Natasha Singh, Jajpur Nabard DDM Subrat Sahoo and AHO Sujan Kunar Narendra inaugurated the camp. Sahoo said the Nabard would provide fruit-bearing trees for 1 acre of land to each farmer and 50 landless farmers would be given goats.  A health camp was also held on the occasion where 265 patients were checked up and free medicines were distributed.

NTPC ED visits Talcher unit 

Angul: NTPC Eastern Region-II Executive Director (ED) MP Sinha on Friday visited the Talcher Thermal Power Station and inspected its activities. He convened a meeting with senior officers and also interacted with other employees on work performance. He was accompanied by Station GM MK Singh and GM (O and M) Anil Jana.
