PUNE: The
Kothrud police detained a 17-year-old and arrested his friend for alleged
sexual assault on a three-and-a-half-year-old girl for one month.
“They have been charged under IPC Section 376 and the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” an officer from the Kothrud police said, adding that the incident occurred at a daycare centre in Kothrud where the girl was kept when her parents were away at work.
The minor boy used to take care of the children when the caretaker and owner were away.
The incident came to light after the girl’s parents noticed strange behavior being exhibited by her. “The parents became suspicious and took her to a medical practitioner, who told them about scratches on the girl’s private parts,” the officer said, adding that the minor was detained soon after.
The minor told police about his friend (19), following which the latter was arrested.
