Criticising the State government and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for allotting ‘valuable 25 acres of land to Tata Trusts’, former MP Chinta Mohan asserted that sanctioning such vast stretch of land was unnecessary and demanded its immediate cancellation.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Dr. Mohan recalled that Adayar Cancer Institute was set up in two acres of land and added that it would be enough for the upcoming S.V. Institute of Cancer Care and Advanced Research. “Both the State government and the TTD have misplaced priorities. Instead of offering the journalists and employees with house site, they have handed the land to Tata Trusts. On the other hand, a ₹120 crore Cancer Hospital sanctioned by the then UPA government in Tirupati, has been shifted to some other place, with no concern for the development of the temple city,” he added.
‘Anti-social activities’
Dr. Mohan also criticised the TTD’s plan to build a temple in Thullur at a cost of ₹150 crore and alleged that the latter were spending devotees money without any purpose. He further alleged that TTD has expressed laxity in allowing anti-social activities to flourish in their accommodations with a complete failure of vigilance staff. Dr. Mohan also said that NTR Trust had reportedly failed in clearing the dues of Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, pushing the institute into deep financial troubles. He also predicted a discernible change in the political atmosphere in the days to come.
