THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state cabinet has decided to reach an agreement with a consortium of banks in order to offer a loan of up to Rs 1 lakh to families, which have lost their home appliances.

The facility will be provided through Kudumbasree units. The interest for the loans will be paid by the government. In addition, the government also intends to come up with another loan scheme that will offer a loan of up to Rs 10 lakh for small traders hit by the flood.

Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the cabinet has also decided to appoint global consultant KPMG for providing expertise in state reconstruction. The Netherlandsbased company’s services would be free of cost.
