Couple of days after the police raided several over ground activists claiming to have closer relations with underground banned leftwing organizations, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) chief and former Chief Minister of the State Babulal Marandi expressed his anguish over the action.

Talking to media persons the leader alleged the police for acting on the directions of the Government. “The entire Government machinery is hell bent to suppress sane voices who have been raising concerns of poor, tribal and downtrodden. There are millions of such people facing ire of the system in Jharkhand as well. All of them speaking for them cannot be labeled as naxalites,” said Marandi on Friday.

Besides arresting several left-minded ideologues from different parts of the country the Pune police had also searched house of Father Stain Swami in Ranchi and claimed to have seized electronic materials from there to establish links with the Bhima-Koregaon incident. The JVM leader termed the act of the police as in continuation.

“This is not new for people of the State. They have been witnessing this for fairly long time. Lands and resources of tribals are being looted in the name of development and handed over to industrialists and corporate houses at throw away price. Lakhs of tribals got displaced in the State due to this without getting resettled and rehabilitated. If someone is talking about those people is that a crime,” asked the leader.

He also reiterated the commitment of his party to fight for the cause of the people of the State and cited agitations done to safeguard their land and forest rights. Marandi at the same time also claimed that there is growing resentment among the villagers, tribals and farmers of the State which would be reflected in the time of future polls. He referred to a recent public meeting of tribal communities called by the JVM in Ranchi to drive home his point.
