It's been a big week in art, with Jim Pavlidis

For the past 12 years it can’t have been easy for Nathan Jones to be regularly reminded of how much better life was for players at other clubs.

For example, in 2013 we were informed that Joel Selwood’s first 140 games included 116 wins and 24 losses, whereas Jones’ 140 games were 36 wins, three draws and 101 losses.

Or that James Hird played under only one senior coach in his 253-game career, whereas Jones is up to his eighth in 261 games.

Having endured dark times, the Demons are enjoying a renaissance as they return to the September stage.

The Limbourg brothers, 14th-century Dutch miniature painters, never got to experience art’s Renaissance, yet their remarkable illuminated manuscript Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry is history’s most famous medieval manuscript and a reminder that creativity can always flourish, even in the Dark Ages.
