Complainant stated that three mobile phones were stolen

A 22-year-old student of DU has been arrested for allegedly stealing mobile phones from an e-commerce company’s warehouse in Okhla, the police said on Friday.

Rahul Kumar Choubey who is pursuing Bachelors of Arts at the university via correspondence is from Badarpur, said DCP (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal. The officer added that Rahul was employed at Amazon’s warehouse where the theft was committed. On Thursday, the police received a complaint from Amazon Transportation Services Pvt Ltd at Okhla Industrial police station regarding the theft of mobile phones. “They complained that all deliveries are made from the warehouse and all the returned mobile phones are also collected there,” Mr. Biswal said, adding that the complainant stated that three mobile phones had been stolen.

The CCTV footage of the warehouse was scanned and accused Rahul was seen stealing the phones on August 24 and 29. Following this, he was arrested. “He had joined the company in June 2018... From past two months, he was observing the workings there and had planned the crime to earn quick money,” Mr. Biswal added. He sold two phones for ₹2,000-₹3,000 and one of them was recovered from him, the police said.
