MUMBAI: Five girl students of class VIII went missing on Friday afternoon after they left their Fort school in south Mumbai. Police on Saturday said they were trying to trace the girls but have not got any information about them.
The girls had come to school and it was Open Day as well and their unit test results were declared. The girls did not do well in exams and scored less marks. Colaba police, where the girls’ parents lodged missing (kidnapping) complaints, said the girls were together last seen at Marine Drive at 5pm. The girls left school at 2.30pm and went to Marine Drive.

The Colaba police have circulated photos of the girls to all police stations and concerned agencies. Parents of the girls also reached the police stations and lodged their complaints.

The school principal said the school held an open house on Friday and the girls' parents visited to see the papers. The girls were present in school on Friday too. "They weren't shouted at or reprimanded. Only the parents were shown the papers. After which we were informed that the girls did not reach home. The competent authorities are looking into it and we are providing necessary support," she said.
