The State will have to mobilise resources on its own as it is not possible for the Centre to provide the amount the State had demanded, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said. The State had asked for a special package and not compensation from the Centre, he said.
He was speaking at a meeting organised here on Saturday to appreciate all Civil Service officials who had coordinated rescue and relief operations. Right from young children to the elderly, all were contributing to the cause. Keralites world over are rallying round to help the State. In this time of crisis, the resource mobilisation capacities of everyone should be utilised, he added.

Reconstruction efforts are being launched and to rebuild a new and modern State, the government will seek the help of all international agencies as well as the goodwill and resources of others who are volunteering to help, he said. All departments could work in coordination to organise relief efforts in a scale and fashion that caught the attention of the world.
The same unity and cooperation should be displayed by all departments now that the State has to go into the rehabilitation and reconstruction mode, he said. Chief Secretary Tom Jose said it was the strong and fearless leadership of the Chief Minister which had helped everyone work so well to face the disaster.
