Tom Evans and Kate James, whose battle to keep their son Alfie alive touched the hearts of millions around the globe, have had a new baby boy.
Kate James, 20, lost son Alfie to a rare brain condition in April.
She and her partner Tom, 21, are now celebrating the birth of a second son, who came along in early August.
Alfie’s parents, from Liverpool, launched a legal bid to keep him alive after doctors at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital applied to turn off his life support.
Doctors argued that his condition could not improve and strongly opposed moves by his family to provide specialist care outside the country.
Hundreds of supporters - dubbed “Alfie’s Army” - backed the parents and dad Tom flew to Rome to meet with Pope Franci when doctors in Italy offered to treat the youngster.
But the tragic toddler’s life support was finally switched off in April as the family’s lawyers eventually exhausted all legal avenues following a Court of Appeal ruling.
While sources said the birth of their new son - believed to be named Tom after his dad - was tinged with sadness, the new arrival had given the couple something positive to focus on, the Mirror reports .
