FRI to host perfumery and aromatherapy workshop

The Chemistry and Bioprospecting Division of Forest Research Institute (FRI) along with the Fragrance and Flavour Development Centre, Kannauj are jointly organising a five-day training-cum-workshop on essential oils, perfumery and aromatheraphy from September 5. According to FRI officials, about 30 participants from different parts of India will be attending the programme. This structured training programme consists of both lectures and practical demonstration and will cover important aspects related to production and marketing of fragrance and flavour like extraction, purification, quality assessment of essential oil, value addition, blending and perfumery development, agri-production and post–harvest treatments and processing of aromatic plants, therapeutic and healthcare application of aroma products, national as well as international market potential of essential oils. In addition, there will be live demonstrations of essential oil extraction at bench as well as pilot plant scale, purification and quality assessment of essential oils and use of aroma products in aromatherapy. Apart from the experts from the FFDC and FRI, experienced professionals from the academia, industries, commercial ventures, Ayurvedic institutions and practising aromatherapist will impart the training. The training cum workshop is aimed at upgrading knowledge of professionals working in the area of fragrance and flavour and to impart knowledge and skills to those interested in building career or establish business in the aroma sector. According to the course director, Vineet Kumar, the registration of participants is still open and interested persons may register themselves online on the website of the FRI.
