ALLAHABAD: The cycle yatra being taken out by
Samajwadi Party (SP) from
Ghazipur to New Delhi left the Sangam city for its next destination, on Saturday.
The 'samaajik nyay evam prajatantra bachao-desh bachao' yatra, which started from Ghazipur on August 28, will pass through various parts of the state before concluding at
Jantar Mantar in Delhi, on September 23.
Large number of youths, belonging to the SP, had arrived at the Sangam city on Friday evening, Clad in their Red and Green coloured attire with red coloured caps, these youths travelled in various localities of the city on Saturday and addressed nukkad sabha (road meeting). Telling the masses about the work done by their government during the period of their party president, Akhilesh Yadav, as the state’s CM, these youths tried to muster support for their party for the next year
general elections.
As they passed through various roads of the city, a long cavalcade of party supporters followed them. At several places, locals were seen providing them with water and lime juice. The yatra also stopped at the ‘welcome gate’ made by their supporters at different locations of the city.
The supporters had decorated these gates with red and green coloured balloons and boast the moral of the cyclists by chanting the slogans in support of their leader. Slogans, protesting the schemes of the present state and center government was also part of the yatra.
“We are trying to tell the people and highlight the policies and projects undertaken by the previous government in
Uttar Pradesh, led by Akhilesh Yadav and how the present government has failed at different levels”, said
Abhishek Yadav, one of the senior member of the yatra.
