LUCKNOW: Commuters were cursed to crawl near
Hazratganj crossing of the city on Friday afternoon.
The
traffic police personnel failed to regulate the jam even during the non-peak hours between 2pm to 3pm, leaving commuters at the receiving end. The irregular parking of vehicles added to the woes. From
Bapu Bhawan to
Hazratganj road, the traffic movement came to a standstill due to irregular parking of vehicles.
“We are mentally prepared for such traffic jams in Hazratganj now,” said Amit Pandey, a private worker.
Mohammad Siraj, a government employee, said that it took him 30 minutes to cover ashort distance of 500 m between Annexe and Hazratganj road. “The traffic mismanagement and irregular parking is the reason behind jams,” he added.
“Hazratganj traffic is irritating. You are bound to face jams be it any time of the day,” said Daksh Mishra, a stationery shop owner.
“There is an extreme need of a flyover in this very area. Be it LMC or traffic police, every department is sleeping,” he added. Sushma Pandey, a house wife, who had come to pick up her son from a school, said that traffic police must take corrective measures to streamline traffic outside schools once they get over.
“Bas challan impose kar pate hain, traffic control nahin hota inse (they just issue challans to violators and fail when it comes to controllingtraffic snarls,” she added.
