An official ceremony has been held in Namibia after the return of skulls and bones from the German genocide of Herero and Nama people.
According to The Namibian Facebook page, the ceremony took place in Windhoek’s Parliamentary Gardens on Friday to welcome the repatriated skulls from Germany.

“This was not scientific research, but a racist doing,” Germany’s cultural affairs and Africa minister Michelle Müntefering was quoted as saying by The Namibian.
A Namibian delegation took possession of the remains of 27 people in Berlin on August 29, according to AFP.
The remains were reportedly taken by German colonial forces more than a century ago for the purpose of discrediting “scientific” experiments that aimed at proving racial superiority of white Europeans.
According to BBC, it is believed that 75% of the Herero population and 50% of the Nama population died during the genocide. The murders took place in response to anti-colonial uprisings by these populations.
