Firm plans to add 80 more properties in seven months

V Resorts, a travel solutions and resort management firm, is planning a major foray into southern and western zones to provide standardised boutique experiences to travellers in the leisure travel space, according to a top official.

“Basically, we have presence in four major cities such as Bengaluru, Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai,” said Aditi Balbir, founder and CEO, V Resorts. “We are yet to tap interior parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, northeastern States and Odisha.”

Going forward, the firm plans to establish its foot hold in the southern and western zones and also in places of pilgrimage.

Eyes 3,000 rooms

Currently, V Resorts has 170 properties with 2,200 rooms in 17 states. It added 20 properties in the last five months and hopes to add another 80 properties in the remaining seven months, taking the total rooms under management to 3,000.

For the expansion, Ms. Balbir said the firm would be investing about ₹3-4 lakh per property. “We operate on an asset-light mode and funds are available with us as we had raised two rounds of funds recently.”

Asked what prompted her to start the firm, Ms. Balbir said: “We conceptualised the business idea while conducting research for Bedrock Ventures. There was no standardisation of rooms.

There was no cleanliness and maintenance. Instead of telling the property owners to improve food, hygiene and experience factor, we decided to start on our own.”

V Resorts focuses on boutique leisure properties having about 30 rooms, be it in tea or coffee estates, hill stations or pilgrimage places.

“Our business model is simple – develop a new destination, establish a resort, support the local villages by providing employment, developing new skills, supporting the local trade, and provide the customer with a true ‘Make In India’ tourism experience,” she said.
