Grand welcome for Madhumita Kumari in Ranchi

Indian women’s compound team signed off with a silver medal after losing to South Korea in the finals at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The Indian team comprising Muskan Kirar, Madhumita Kumari and Jyothi Surekha Vennam, lost 228-231 to Korea in a contest that went down to the wire till the final set of arrows.

To mark 150 years of Tata Sons Ltd, Vistara, the joint venture of  TATA and Singapore Airlines unveiled its retro-themed VT-ATV aircraft. This is the 22nd flight in its fleet. "Presenting VT-ATV, a special livery painted in retro color scheme, similar to that on the 1940s Tata Airlines DC-3 aircraft," the company tweeted.

Seven people, including two women were killed when a private carrier and an omni bus collided head on at a national highway near Salem. A total of 37 persons, including 11 women, travelling in both the buses suffered injuries and were rushed to the nearby hospitals.

Thousands of people lined up outside the U.S. Capitol to say goodbye to John McCain, the Arizona senator who passed away on August 26 after battling brain cancer for more than a year. McCain, a prisoner of war in a Vietnamese camp, served the Senate for 35 years and went on to be Republican presidential nominee.
