The district administration has transported relief parcels comprising food and other items that arrived in railway stations to government-run distribution centres, says a press release.
This includes 1,020 tonnes of relief materials that arrived at Ernakulam Junction and 6,309 parcels at Ernakulam Town railway stations. Another 40 tonnes of materials were accumulated at the railway marshalling yard.
These included drinking water, rice, biscuits, milk powder, juices, baby food, tooth brushes and paste, rusk, noodles, steel utensils, sanitary pads, edible oils, medicines, ORS sachets, footwear, mattresses, bed sheets and buckets.
Sub Collector S. Chandrasekhar was entrusted with the charge of clearing relief materials that had accumulated at railway stations in the city and suburbs.
