LUDHIANA: The district health department on Friday found
dengue larvae at various government offices including the birth and death office of the MC, Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL), public works department (PWD) and Bhakhra Beas Management Board (BBMB).
Now, the health officials are planning to send the list of these offices to the MC to issue challans.
The health officials carried out inspections at PSTCL, PWD, BBMB, a police station on Hambran Road, Punjab and Sind Bank, government primary school in Haibowal Kalan, OBC Bank, government high school in Haibowal, old local bus stand fire brigade station, MC birth and death certificate, vegetable market, old and new civil hospital.
District epidemiologist Dr Ramesh Kumar said they found dengue larvae at few government departments and would send the list to the DC office and MC commissioner for issuing challans.
Regarding challan of MC office wing, he said it is up to the civic officials to take action. Their role is to check and destroy the larvae if found, Dr Kumar added.
Medical officer health Dr Vipul Malhotra said he is not aware of the inspection and in case larvae has been found in the MC office wing, they will get the fogging done. Regarding challan, he said he would check the letter from the health department and will take action accordingly.
The health officials also created awareness among residents to take prevention measures to prevent dengue, malaria and chikungunya. Three dengue cases have already been reported during this season.
