Until October 2018, World Tourism Organization Awards submission remains opened!

The awards identify the contribution of public and private institutions and NGOs behind the growth of competitive, responsible and sustainable tourism sector that works together in attaining the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda of the United Nations.

As per the organization efforts at local, national, regional and international levels are all considered.

Now the applications are open for the UNWTO Awards in Public Policy and Governance, in Enterprises, and in Non-Governmental Organizations. Interested applicants are enthused to apply before 31 October (23:59 CET). In December 2018, finalists will be notified, with the award winners to be declared in January 2019.

Also, an additional award, the UNWTO Ethics Award will simultaneously be announced in January 2019. The Award takes applications from signatories of the Private Sector Commitment to the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism, which is the flagship set of guidelines of UNWTO for a tourism sector put up on ethical and responsible principles for sustainability. The call for applications for the UNWTO Ethics Award will be declared soon.

Ever since their creation, the UNWTO Awards have identified over 70 institutions, with 2017 seeing 128 applications received. Winners in last year included Turismo de Portugal, the Mangalajodi Ecotourism Trust of India, Indonesian booking platform Triponyu.com and Spain’s state tourism innovation society SEGITTUR.
