HYDERABAD: Warangal commissioner of police V Ravinder escaped unhurt while one of his relatives travelling in another car succumbed to injuries in a road mishap at Toopran Toll Gate in the city outskirts. The lorry driver who hit the two vehicles is absconding and police are verifying CCTV footage and have formed a special team to nab him.
Toopran inspector of police G Lingeswara Rao told TOI that the mishap occurred around 1.30am on Friday on the highway when Ravinder and his family members were returning from Basara Saraswati temple in two separate cars.

"The lorry hit the car of their relative due to which one Anita succumbed to injuries. The car in which Warangal top cop was travelling was ahead of the car and hit the Toopran toll gate. There were no injuries to the CP and others except minor damage to the vehicle," said Lingeswara Rao.

He added, "The Haryana-bound lorry driver escaped from the scene. We have formed a special team to nab the lorry driver. We are hopeful of arresting him by today or tomorrow."

Toopran police have booked a case of rash and negligent act leading to death under sections 304 A and 337 IPC against the accused yet to be identified.
