Women Seek Flexibility, Reskilling and Mentoring Opportunities in order to Regain Their Financial Independence, says a JobsForHer report

JobsForHer, an online connecting portal for women on a career break, on the occasion of it’s annual flagship event, RestartHer 2018, India’s Largest Conference and Career Fair for women returning to work, published a report on what women are looking for while restarting their careers.
Neha Bagaria, Founder & CEO, JobsForHer said, “It was conducted to understand the aspirations and hurdles women face while returning to work, the challenges faced by employers to re-integrate them, and the interpersonal dynamics that women face at home and at work, due to various social norms. The surveys will help us find the necessary tools to enable women to restart their careers and achieve their potential.”
It was found that 33% of the women wanted to regain their financial independence in the survey, What is The Primary Motive For Restarting Your Career? Another 30% mentioned they were seeking self-worth, 28% wanted to re-engage their skills and experience and 8% wanted to be good role models for their children to emulate.
In the survey on What Can Companies Do To Enable Your Restart, 47% responded that they were looking at flexibility in timing and location, 34% were looking to be reskilled, 12% asked that recruiters be sensitized to women returnees and 8% wanted to be paired up with buddies.
57% of the women saw mentoring as crucial to their restart, in the survey on How Important is Mentoring To You and in the last survey on What Would Make You Decline A Job Offer, the recorded results were lack of flexibility (40%), travel time (28%), Pay cut (20%) and lowered responsibility(12%).
JobsForHer, aims to strengthen the existing eco-system and accelerate the integration of women returnees, at the second edition of RestartHer, where they will see participation from over 10,000 women returnees across Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi, on the 1st, 8th and 15th of September respectively, along with a wide variety of corporates, speakers, mentors, influencers as well as career experts.
