About 500 fruit and vegetable vending carts of Safal, a Mother Dairy subsidiary, have been authorised to operate in east Delhi on a pilot basis, the EDMC Standing Committee approved on Thursday.
AAP councillor Rekha Tyagi said, “By a giving a large corporation this contract, the BJP is taking away work from the poor and unemployed vendors.” A BJP councillor said, “Getting produce form Safal will ensure there is no adulteration and will be beneficial to the people”
Each trolley will be charged ₹3,750. The estimated revenue is ₹18.75 lakh per annum.
