A 63-year-old goods van driver was murdered by three men over a parking row on Dr. Rajkumar Road, near the Rajajinagar police station, on Thursday night. According to the police, the deceased, Sriram, was a resident of Prakash Nagar. He was trying to park his vehicle when three men came out of a bar and stood in the way.
One of the men, Karthik, refused to move despite Sriram’s repeated requests. When Sriram started blaring his horn, Karthik slapped him. The argument turned into a brawl in which Sriram hit Karthik on his head with a screwdriver.
“Karthik started bleeding and shouted for help. His friends, Rajshekhar and Janardhan, who were standing nearby pounced on Sriram, dragged him out of the van and assaulted him. Sriram tried to escape, but the duo chased him down and rammed his head against a wall,” said a police officer.
Sriram collapsed and died on the spot. Karthik, Rajshekhar and Janardhan fled before witnesses could stop them.
The police later apprehended the trio and booked them for murder. Karthik was taken to a hospital for his head injuries. “The accused are friends and work in a factory,” the police said.
