MADURAI
“It is pertinent to keep the brand in mind because it helps people scale and gives identity. People need to ensure that they think globally,” according to A.D. Padmasingh Isaac, Founder and Chairman of Aachi Group of Companies.
He was addressing a packed audience at the 44th anniversary of Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) here on Friday. The founder of this Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company said that thinking about a global business required immense focus and vision.
“I am currently exporting to over 60 countries and have been able to grow because many of my competitors are afraid of taking risks. Unless we think of ourselves as leaders, we would not grow,” he said.
He added that Madurai businessmen had potential to grow in niche areas. “If we restrict business to geography, we would barley be successful. Madurai’s entrepreneurs have the confidence and zeal to scale their business and take it to a whole new level,” he said.
He stressed the need for brand pride among the entrepreneurs and said that unless the products had a name, people would not be able to recognise them.
Achievers in various fields, particularly start-ups and women-led businesses, are honoured by MADITSSIA with awards.
K.P. Murugan, president of the organisation, spoke on the history of MADITSSIA and its growth. He recalled the organisation’s contribution towards bringing All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to Madurai.
M. Chandrasekaran, Joint Secretary of MADITSSIA, honoured the staff members and the coordinators of the programme.
