He said “the system has been launched to create a people-friendly atmosphere besides bringing transparency and accuracy in policing. The SIPU is dealing effectively with the court process. After SIPU comes into existence, the sessions courts awarded imprisonment to 181 accused in 100 cases while magistrate court gave imprisonment in 125 cases between January to August”.

The team helped 4452 eye-witnesses record their statement in the courts in different cases. SP added, of the 50 cases opted for speedy trial, in eight cases 10 accused were awarded rigorous imprisonment. In one such case of rape of a minor girl in Kasmar, court had awarded life term to the accused. In another case of gang rape, court had awarded 20 years rigorous imprisonment to three accused.
