GURUGRAM: A 27-year-old woman employee of a city-based IT company approached police on Thursday, alleging that the firm’s
HR head had sexually harassed her at workplace. She claimed the senior HR executive took her to the fire exit stairs on the pretext of talking to her about her job prospects and touched her inappropriately.
Based on the complaint filed by the woman, an FIR was registered against the senior HR executive at women’s police station in Sector 51.
The woman, a resident of Delhi, who is working as an executive at the IT company located on
MG Road, alleged that the HR head came to her seat and complemented her for her work before taking her to the stairs.
“I was at office on August 22. He asked me to come to the stairs to discuss my job prospects, and I went with him unsuspecting. There, he said I would need him to get myself promoted, and started touching me inappropriately. I was shocked and rushed back to my seat. I was traumatised, and the next day lodged a complaint with the company’s internal committee and police,” she said in her complaint.
Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against the HR head under section 354 A (sexual harassment) of IPC at the women’s police station. The police have sought an inquiry report of the internal committee of the company in addition to CCTV camera footage.
“We have recorded her statement and are awaiting the company’s internal inquiry report. We have already collected the CCTV footage from the company, and are investigating the allegations. We have produced her in a city court for recording her statement under Section 164 of CrPC, where she repeated her accusations. The HR executive will be arrested,” said inspector Rajbala, SHO, women’s police station.
