Mumbai: 2 injured as truck overturns in Ghatkopar

MUMBAI: Two persons were seriously injured when a brick-laden truck overturned near the booking counter of Vidyavihar station on the suburban Central Railway line on Friday.
The injured persons identified as Vishnu Iyekar and Saddam Shaikh have been rushed to Rajawadi hospital said Sudhir Nigudkar senior inspector of Ghatkopar police station.

According to police, the incident took place around 12.10 noon when the truck was transporting material to a construction site.

Police said that the truck was passing near the station on LBS Marg when it got stuck in pothole after which the truck driver tried his best to accelerate. When it cleared out, it hit two pedestrians and tilted and overturned on the ticket booking office.

Police said that two or three labourers were too injured in the incident. Police are likely to register an FIR of negligence against truck driver.

Railway officials and staffers arrived at the spot first. Mumbai fire brigade reached the spot and removed the truck with help of a crane

A team of National Disaster Response Force had also reached the spot.
